Marriage & Family Therapy Intern

Julia has experience working with children, teens, parents, and families in several settings, including addiction recovery programs. These experiences have shaped how she understands the ways family patterns, communication, cultural background, and life transitions influence relationships and daily life. She also has a strong passion for supporting clients living with chronic, invisible, and autoimmune conditions—as well as the families who walk alongside them. She recognizes the emotional, relational, and systemic impact these conditions can have and strives to create space for those experiences to be seen and understood.

In her work, Julia draws from Intergenerational and Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. She focuses on helping families notice the patterns that may be creating stress or distance, and she offers practical tools to support clearer communication, emotional balance, and healthier ways of relating. Cultural awareness is an important part of her approach, and she is committed to meeting clients where they are—honoring their lived experiences, values, and readiness for change.

Julia is excited to continue growing as a clinician and looks forward to learning from the experienced therapists around her. She also believes that clients are some of her greatest teachers. Each family, couple, and child brings their own insight, resilience, and perspective, and she values the learning that comes from being invited into their stories.

Her hope is to create a space where children feel comfortable being themselves, couples feel heard, and families feel supported as they move through change together. Julia brings curiosity, steadiness, and genuine respect to each session. Whether someone is working through conflict, big emotions, parenting stress, chronic health challenges, or major life transitions, she walks alongside them as they build resilience and move toward more connection and clarity.

Julia is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern who works with families, couples, and children as they navigate challenges and build stronger connections. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, holds a Graduate Certificate in Systemic Couple and Family Therapy, and is completing her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University.

As a Student Intern, Julia receives direct and clinical supervision from an AZBBHE approved clinical supervisor, Danica Williams, MA, LPC, PMH-C (danica@novusleaf.sprucecare.com, 520-492.0492). Her work is logged, monitored, discussed, and reviewed by her clinical supervisor. Client care is handled with professional quality; knowledge, feedback, and insight are gained from a team of professionals. Counselor accountability, growth, and development within this supportive infrastructure is emphasized.
